Phil and family moved to the Center Grove area of Greenwood, Indiana to work in his uncle’s home building business. “I learned so much in my 10 years working for my uncle. So much in fact that I got the fever to try it on my own” says Phil. So in 1987 he went in a different direction than new construction. Although Gettum Associates started out doing new homes they always did remodeling projects too. In fact, it was after building two homes back to back in the Indianapolis Home Show that the direction of remodeling really took off.
In 1993, Gettum Associates designed and built The Center Piece Home for The Home Show and won the Better Homes for All America award from Better Homes & Gardens. It was a home called the Generation Home and it was designed with pre-planned expansions to accommodate a growing family’s needs. “It was fun watching Martha drag Harry through the show house while saying -”Look Harry, we could do this to our house” smiles Phil. And so it was that new construction took a back seat to the remodeling, rebuilding and expansion projects that Gettum Associates has become known for.
Phil has been very involved within the industry. He served for ten years as the Chairman of THe Buildings Codes Committee for the State of Indiana and for the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis. He also served eight years as the Governor’s appointee to the State Fire and Building Safety Commission and was the 1994 President of the Remodeler's Council of the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis. He is currently a member of the National Association of Homebuilders, Indiana Builders Association and The Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis where he was recognized as The Associate of the Year in 1987.
In addition, Phil has earned the prestigious CGB, CGR and CAPS industry designations. The CGB is awarded to Graduates of the Builders Institute and the CGR and CAPS designations are awarded to individuals who have passed classes to become Certified Graduate Remodelers and Certified Aging in Place Specialists.
Away from the office, Phil enjoys working as well as playing ice hockey with all four of his boys.
Jason has been in the remodeling industry since high school and began as a general laborer and carpenter’s helper. In 2000 after graduating college, he had the opportunity to transition from the field into the office and began working with sales and design departments to produce project specifications and job costing.
Along with providing support to produce projects, Jason is the Vice President of the company and oversees all marketing efforts. He also sits on The Remodelor’s Council board of the Builder’s Association of Greater Indianapolis (BAGI). In 2012, he was awarded “Forty under 40” by Professional Remodeler magazine. Most recently, Jason was nominated the 2016 Remodeler of the Year by the Builder's Association of Greater Indianapolis (BAGI).
When asked about what he finds enjoyable about the remodeling industry, Jason replies,
“I like the seeing the whole process take shape. From initial consultation and through design and selections and then the finished product, we have been lucky to have a great cast of people to help make our client’s dreams a reality.”
Away from work, Jason enjoys spending time with his wife and kids hiking and camping and playing ice hockey with his father and brothers. Jason is also an avid Indianapolis Colts fan.
David has been in the remodeling industry since 1992 and is the design and sales associate. When asked about what he enjoys most about the remodeling industry, Dave says,
“I must admit, providing scaled, conceptual design solutions for our clients is what I truly enjoy. When I am in the middle of a design concept, I am lost in the moment and the details associated with the provided owner information. Based upon experience, the first meeting is the most important element of our process and a successful business relationship. Additionally, gaining the trust of homeowners is truly satisfying for me. Our homes are precious to us, and gaining the trust, respect and confidence of our clients is paramount. Helping others is really what this deal is about. I am very thankful to have found a business that is related to home life, and also very integral to design and problem solving.”
Dave loves family time at home and working in the yard. He adds that. “I also get a great deal of relaxation from watching Indycar racing and basketball (between my wife's foodtv and hgtv shows).”

Ray has been in the construction industry since he got out of the Marine Corps in 1982. Gettum Associates was lucky to meet Ray while he was working on one of their projects as a subcontractor. A job offer was made and accepted and since that time Ray has provided a firm foundation for the production side of the business.

What Ray enjoys the most about the remodeling industry is that it changes day to day and job to job, which is exciting.
“From building a second story addition to remodeling a bath, the new challenge awaits.”
After work and wife mandated chores, Ray enjoys golfing and fishing and watching ESPN.
Adrian began in the industry in 1996 and brings a lot to the table when dealing with exterior remodeling, repairs and working with insurance companies on our clients behalf.
His favorite part of exterior remodeling is the ability to completely change the appearance of any home to something the homeowner can really enjoy. Also providing customers with a honest assessment of storm damage and providing them assistance on solving difficult storm related claims.
Adrian says that working for Gettum Associates gives him a chance to work in a field that he loves with a company that he can believe in. Over the years, he has helped many people resolve insurance claims that were denied by various companies by meeting adjusters and working toward a settlement. In this business you can meet many interesting people and visit many places you may normally not travel to otherwise.
Away from work, Adrian enjoys spending time with his family and going to Colts or Pacers games. He also enjoys working on his own home and furthering his education within his profession.
